About the Israel Resource Efficiency Center (IREC)
The Israel Resource Efficiency Center (IREC) was initiated and funded by the Industries Administration in the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry, and the Ministries of Environmental Protection and Finance.
IREC aims to assist factories become more efficient both in economic and environmental terms, by focusing on more efficient use of raw materials, water and energy; thus increasing the factory's profitability while minimizing its environmental impact. A win-win situation for both the factory and the environment.
By applying the IREC methodology, factories should improve their competitiveness and mitigate influences of the volatility of prices of resources and energy. The costs of raw materials can range between 50%-80% of the total cost of production, therefore more efficientuseage will have direct impact on the factory's bottom line.
Our methodology includes:
In a pilot project conducted in 7 Israeli factories
more than 65% of efficiency recommendations have been implemented
saving more than NIS 8.5m per year.
RoI on more that half of the recommendations was achieved within six months.
